Yuzu Kukicha – Green Tea
Origin: Japan
Infusion Temperature: 70°-80° Celsius
Infusion Time: 1-2 minutes, depending on your taste preference
Serving Size: 2-3 grams/250 ml
Yuzu Kukicha grown in the pristine tea regions of Kagoshima and harvested in June, it’s a fully crafted Japanese green tea blend that combines the delicate, refreshing qualities of kukicha twig tea with the aromatic zest of yuzu, a highly prized Japanese citrus fruit.
Yuzu (ユズ, 柚子) is a unique citrus fruit native to Japan, resembling a mandarin but distinguished by its more floral, slightly sharp and tangy aroma. Revered for its exceptional flavor and rarity, yuzu grows almost exclusively in Japan, making it a sought-after ingredient that adds a sophisticated twist to traditional tea blends.
This special blend marries the umami-rich, mellow, and grassy notes of kukicha with the bright, aromatic citrus peel of yuzu. Kukicha, known for its low theine content, derives from the twigs and stems of the tea plant, offering a smooth, round character with subtle hints of chlorophyll.
The addition of yuzu peel introduces a lively, zesty brightness with floral undertones and a slight tang, creating a complex flavor profile that finishes on a delicate toasted note. This balance between the rich, comforting warmth of kukicha and the fresh, invigorating citrus makes Yuzu Kukicha a truly exceptional tea experience.
Indulge in the vibrant yet smooth harmony of Yuzu Kukicha, a tea that invites you to savor the refreshing essence of Japanese citrus entwined with the gentle richness of green kukicha twigs.
For a more layered experience, kukicha can be steeped multiple times, as the stems release their flavor slowly.
