Wen Shan Bao Zhong, also known by its European transliteration Pouchong, is a lightly oxidized oolong tea hailing from the northern region of Taiwan. Grown just a few kilometers from Taipei, along the winding mountain roads leading to Pinglin and ultimately to Taiwan’s less urbanized western coast, harvested in April this tea reflects the unique terroir of its 300-600 meters high-altitude environment.
Celebrated for its exceptionally smooth and velvety texture, Wenshan Bao Zhong offers a sweet and floral aroma that delights the palate. Its flavor profile is distinguished by luscious honey notes, complemented by subtle fruity hints of citrus and refreshing herbaceous undertones reminiscent of fresh parsley.
The processing of this tea is intricate, reflecting the complexity typical of oolong teas-arguably among the most carefully crafted in the tea world. The expertise and meticulous decisions of the tea master throughout the production stages are crucial in bringing out the tea’s delicate character and balance.
Notably, this tea earned its first star in 2018 at the prestigious Great Taste Awards in London, a testament to its exceptional quality and global recognition.
