Japanese Kyusu Teapot “Maru”

Kyusu teapots originate in southern Japan and are mainly used for infusing green teas, though they are also suitable for black and white teas. They are characterized by the side handle and a filter that offers ample space for the leaves to open and release their aroma.

This terracotta teapot is enhanced with a glaze that shifts between light green and gray; through the glaze, the natural terracotta layers remain visible. Made in Tokoname, central Japan, and handcrafted; glaze variations may differ slightly from the photo.

For cleaning, we recommend using water only, and occasionally a mild, non-aggressive detergent since the interior is unglazed.
