Japanese Cast-Iron Teapot Arare “Ren”
A reinterpretation of the Arare style
Includes stainless steel filter and trivet
Capacity 1.2 Liter
Unique design
Arare refers to the dotted patterns decorating these teapots. Japan has an ancient tradition of cast-iron teapot craftsmanship; over time styles evolved, but Arare remains one of the most faithful to the originals. This model features a modern reinterpretation of the pattern.
Cast iron (95% iron plus brass, carbon, silica) makes the most durable teapots, and their mass retains heat very well.
Can cast-iron teapots be heated on a stove?
Yes, cast iron is resistant, but for longevity we recommend avoiding direct heat to protect the enamel. A flame-diffuser may be used, though long-term heating may still damage the enamel. After each use, rinse with water and dry the interior with a cloth to avoid moisture and potential rust.
