This tea is grown at 500 meters above sea level in the Makizono region-an area renowned for its clean air, fertile soil, and mineral-rich waters, making it one of the finest terroirs for Japanese tea cultivation.

Carefully harvested by the pioneering Nishi family, known across Japan for their commitment to organic farming and artisanal quality, this Fukamushi Sencha is made using the Asanoka cultivar, selected this year for its aromatic intensity and complexity, surpassing even last year’s celebrated Asatsuyu harvest.

Fukamushi (literally “deep-steamed”) refers to a unique style of Japanese green tea that undergoes a longer than-usual steaming process, typically lasting over two minutes. This extended steaming softens and partially breaks down the leaves, resulting in a tea with a smoother, less astringent taste, a deeper, richer infusion with a cloudy, vibrant liquor with an increased bioavailability of beneficial compounds, such as catechins, antioxidants, and vitamins./p>

Although the appearance of the broken leaves may seem less refined, the in-cup result is undeniably superior-rich, nourishing, and exceptionally flavorful.
