Bai Hao Yin Zhen, also known as Silver Needle White Tea, is among the most prestigious and sought after white teas available worldwide. Our Bai Hao Yin Zhen originates from the village of Tang Te in Jinggu County, Pu’er Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. This tea is distinguished by its unique cultivar, Camellia Taliensis, growing at an altitude of 1300 meters which sets it apart from the more widely known Silver Needle teas typically produced in the Fujian region.

After a careful comparative tasting, we found that the Yunnan Silver Needle offers a more aromatic profile than the classic Fujian variety. The name “Yin Zhen” (Silver Needle) derives from the tea’s appearance pure, unopened buds covered with fine silvery hairs resembling delicate needles of silver.

Silver Needle tea has its roots in the Fujian province of China, where it was first developed in the late 19th century. Today, Fujian remains famous for producing the most recognized Silver Needle teas. However, our Bai Hao Yin Zhen comes from Yunnan and shares many similarities in production and character while offering a distinct aromatic complexity.

Bai Hao Yin Zhen is one of the most exclusive teas, crafted solely from carefully handpicked unopened buds. Only the finest, undamaged buds are selected, with any affected by insects or weather being discarded. The harvest occurs during sunny spring days, typically between March and April, to ensure optimal freshness and quality.

This white tea undergoes minimal processing to preserve its delicate nature. After picking, the buds are briefly withered, allowing a slight oxidation to develop over 24 to 48 hours through controlled air exposure either naturally or with gentle heat before final drying. This meticulous method safeguards the tea’s subtle flavor and antioxidant properties.

Bai Hao Yin Zhen is a refined tea suited for special moments of relaxation and contemplation. Its flavor is delicately aromatic, combining a gentle sweetness with floral notes and a soft, smooth mouthfeel. The Yunnan variety presents a slightly more pronounced aromatic complexity, making it a favorite among tea connoisseurs seeking both elegance and depth.

Consuming Bai Hao Yin Zhen offers numerous health advantages thanks to its rich content of functional compounds, including theine, tea polyphenols, polysaccharides, theaflavins, and theanine. These constituents provide powerful antioxidant effects, contribute to anti-aging, and help neutralize free radicals. Notably, Bai Hao Yin Zhen contains less theine than green and black teas, making it suitable for sensitive individuals.

Bai Hao Yin Zhen White Tea is celebrated for its delicate profile, yet it is easy to prepare properly.
