Delicacy, altitude, and timing converge in this exquisite First Flush Darjeeling tea from the Badamtan Estate, nestled in the scenic Lebong Valley, approximately 17 kilometers from Darjeeling town. For the 2025 harvest, we’re proud to present this early-spring selection-a standout tea from a garden that impressed us deeply for its freshness, purity, and complexity.
What makes this tea exceptional is not only the terroir-characterized by steep slopes, diverse elevations, and intense diurnal temperature shifts-but also the timing of the pluck. The earliest possible harvests in Darjeeling, often occurring before mid-April. This teas are considered among the most coveted, representing the very first shoots of the season, when the leaves are at their most tender, aromatic, and nuanced.
Unlike later flushes where leaves may absorb more sun and moisture (resulting in bolder, less floral flavors), this teas preserve the purest expression of the Darjeeling spring-light, floral, ethereal, and layered with subtle complexity.
You may adjust steeping time slightly to suit your taste preference-longer for more body, shorter for higher aromatic intensity. Once infused this tea has a pale golden with sparkling clarity.
Set between 300 and 1,800 meters above sea level, Badamtan Estate is known for its steep terrain and rich biodiversity. The dramatic range in altitude creates sharp temperature contrasts between day and night, which slow the leaf’s growth and intensify essential oil development, key to the aromatic sophistication of its teas.
This estate continues to uphold traditional Darjeeling plucking standards, using only the youngest leaves and buds to produce teas that embody the finest qualities of spring.
Darjeeling First Flush Badamtan 2025 is an early-spring treasure, expressing the purity of high-altitude Himalayan terroir and the artistry of careful hand-harvesting. A must-have for connoisseurs seeking a graceful, floral, and authentic first flush Darjeeling of rare character.
